A compact digital camera featuring an extra-large 3.0-inch LCD monitor, newly equipped with Shake Reduction and Face Recognition AF & AE functions.

PENTAX Corporation have announced the new PENTAX Optio T30, with its super slim body & large 3.0-inch LCD monitor that enables easy viewing. It comes with new functions such as shake reduction which reduces camera shake and subject blurring, and Face Recognition AF, which is convenient when photographing people.

Major Features

1. Easy-to-view 3.0-inch oversized LCD monitor
The Optio T30 is equipped with a high-resolution, oversized 3.0-inch LCD monitor with approximately 230,000 pixels that enables images and menu text to be displayed largely and clearly. The monitor also has a wide viewing angle of approximately 170° from all directions, making it easy to confirm images, even when looking at the monitor diagonally.

2. Shake reduction function

(Digital SR (Shake Reduction)
A mode that reduces camera shakes and blurring of the subject when photographing still images. The sensitivity is adjusted automatically, to as high as the ultrahigh sensitivity of ISO 3200, to match the brightness of the subject. This enables for photography with fast shutter speeds, and images with less blurs can be obtained.

Movie SR (Shake Reduction)*1
An electronic shake reduction function exclusively for capturing movies, which effectively corrects distortions in images due to camera shakes through software.
*1 When using Movie SR the field of view is narrower than that during normal recording.

3. Face Recognition AF & A function that is convenient when photographing people
The Optio T30 is equipped with a Face Recognition AF function*2 that automatically detects and focuses on faces, regardless of where the people appear in the photo frame. In addition, optimal exposure settings are automatically conducted so that the areas with faces are not darkened even if there is backlighting.
*2 Available when the photography mode is Portrait and the camera is directed at people from the front.

4. One of the Smallest and lightest in its class
By using a new type of battery that is thin and high-performance, as well as adopting the sliding lens system,*3 which is a lens mechanism unique to PENTAX, the Optio T30 realizes one of the smallest and lightest compact body in the class of models equipped with a large, 3.0-inch LCD monitor and 3X optical zoom.
*3 PENTAXs proprietary lens system: The central lens group slides upward from the optical axis and the front and back lens groups slip under them. Housing the lens in two steps in the lens cylinder reduces overall lens thickness, thereby minimizing body depth.

5. Excellent image quality
An upgraded 7.1 effective megapixel resolution delivers images with exceptional definition. The camera boasts the well-regarded smc PENTAX lens, which renders clear, high-contrast images, while our unique lens coating cuts out ghosting and other artifacts. And the Optio T30s superb image processing technology produces vivid colors and creates smooth tonal expressions at all brightness levels.

6. Touch-display control system
Various functions can be set and entered easily, due to a touch-display control system where operations can be made by directly touching the icons on the LCD monitor.
