For what seems like years Gmail has been an invite only system, which meant that you couldn’t get an account unless you managed to find someone to send you an invite.

During the early days invites were rare and you could even find them for sale on eBay. I got mine through some New Zealand site while travelling over there.

Even though Gmail is still in Beta mode, the Google Blog announced that it has now been opened up for all users from all over the world. So go and get yourself one if you’ve not done so already!

Just one question…what do I do with my 50 invites now?….
